Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated R&D Lab Technician to join our team. This role involves preparing and testing various formulas and wet samples, applying them to lab metals, baking them, and evaluating their properties. You will perform standard testing procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process formulas, apply wet samples to lab metals, bake, and test properties.
• Conduct tests including viscosity, density, weight per gallon, color development, adhesion, cure testing, solids, flexibility, and solvent resistance.
• Follow batch tickets (recipes) accurately for weights and measurements.
• Perform standard testing procedures with precision and high quality.
• Adhere to daily work plans for lab work requests or project plans.
• Document work accurately in lab notebooks (physical or electronic).
• Identify and resolve roadblocks or anomalies, or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner.
• Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labeled.
• Label and mail samples correctly.
• Maintain clean and organized work environment.
• Perform equipment calibration and testing procedures as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping and 5S organization in the lab.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures, leading to minimal safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AS or BS in Science preferred.
• Non-degreed candidates considered with at least one year of wet chemistry lab experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial lab environment within the plant, involving exposure to strong paint smells. The team consists of 20 R&D lab technicians. Candidates should not be sensitive to strong odors. This position runs on a M-F 1st shift!

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
