Entry-Level R&D Lab Technician

We are immediately hiring for an Entry-Level R&D Lab Technician here in the Columbus, Ohio area! This is a long-term career opportunity and offers a great chance to get your foot in the door or to gain professional experience in a laboratory setting. The current openings we have will be performing laboratory testing on paint products and will be light chemistry focused.

These are entry-level openings looking for a candidate with a Bachelors degree or Associates degree focused in a scientific discipline. We may consider someone who doesn't have a completed degree if you have at least 1+ year of hands on, wet chemistry experience. There will be hands on training in the role as well.

Description:

The Lab Technician will primarily be performing routine laboratory testing to support an R&D lab focused on working with paint products. Typical duties will include the following:

  • Putting together formulas and processing them, preparing wet samples and applying them on lab metal and baking them out and testing those properties
  • Testing physical and wet properties of the paint
  • Testing includes viscosity, density, weight per gallon, viscosity, color development, adhesion testing, cure testing, solids, flexibility, and solvent resistance.
  • Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements
  • Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality
  • Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan
  • Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic)
  • Recognize roadblocks or anomalies; resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner
  • Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labelled

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelors' or Associates' Degree in a scientific field. Associates Degrees must have taken multiple laboratory courses.
  • May consider non-degreed candidates with at least 1 year of wet chemistry lab experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
